L ocated in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, near Bathurst, is the Brewongle Vineyard where McgrathWines are produced. This location places the precious product into the classic COOL CLIMATE WINE category that is proclaimed the most desirable wine produced across the world.

While only established a short time, McGrathWines initial vintage started winning awards. In 2004 McGrathWines win 5 medals for the Shiraz and Cabernet at various prestigious wine shows. This was backed up with medals for the Chardonnay and Cabernet Savignon. The riesling always promises to be something special.

Using the best of traditional and modern wine making techniques, Peter McGrath - Winemaker, has establish himself as a master of the industry. He grows and produces not only his own special wines but assists in producing wines for other growers in the district.

Peter's attention to detail in the craft of winemaking is one of the reasons Winewise Magazine stated that:
".....at McGrath Wines, all wines are of a superior quality."

Our 2005 Shiraz in 2007/2008 won Silver at the NSW Small Wine Makers Show, (500 tonnes crush or less), with the chief judge Lester Jesburg, and backed it up again this year at Cowra Wine Show with a Bronze Medal.

The 2006 Shiraz also won Bronze Medals at the 2008 National Cool Climate and Small Wine Makers Show.

The 2007 is in my opinion developing into a wine of similar if not better standard for its age. It went in its first show this year, and obtained a Bronze Medal at the National Cool Climate Wine show and most recently won our first International medal with a Silver at the International Cool Climate Show held in Victoria.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of our premium wines this year. It is showing great cabernet depth and structure, with rich colour, well balanced tannins and subtle French oak flavours. The flavours and great length are a highlight of this wine.

The 2008 Riesling displays a lovely floral nose backup by a contrasting lemon/grapefruit citrus finish which lingers well in the pallet, very nice with seafood and associated foods. This wine is now showing some lovely rich characters as it develops further in the bottle.

In 2008 we made our first Rose. It was an outstanding wine and topped the Rose Class at the National Show and received an excellent write up in Wine Wise Magazine in last month.

Some of our other previous vintages have been very successful as well. Our 2004 Shiraz won 3 Bronze Medals at the National Cool Climate Wine Show, head judge Tim Knappstein, the NSW Small Wine Makers Show and at Cowra.


Our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon won Bronze at two of the abovementioned shows and backed up by our 2006 Cabernet winning Silver and topping it Class at the Small Wine Makers Show and Bronze again at the Cowra Wine Show.
